The 5th Annual InterCommunity Firecracker 5K, hosted by the Glastonbury River Runners, will take place at 9 AM on Sunday, June 30th, 2013 at Rotary Field, Olde Stage Road in Glastonbury CT.
The 5K road race and two mile walk will follow a gently rolling course through the Buttonball neighborhood before finishing back at Rotary Field.
Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in eight age groups. There is also a ¼ mile fun run that is free for kids.
You can also register on the day, beginning at 7:30 AM. This promises to be a fun event for runners and walkers of all abilities.
Directions & parking
There will be limited parking at Rotary Field on race day. GRR members are encouraged to park at designated overflow parking areas to allow racers more opportunity to park at Rotary Field. Overflow parking will be at Glastonbury High School (3/4 mile to Rotary Field), Brittany Road, Cutter Lane, Wagon Road, and Surrey Lane.
There will be temporary road closures on the race course, including Olde Stage Road, Farmstead Lane, Randolph Road, Robin Road, Carriage Lane, and Founders Road.

Beginner training program
A free nine-week training program for beginner runners will be offered by the Glastonbury River Runners. The program starts in late April with meetings on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings leading up to the race.
