The GRR race schedule will have a new look in 2013; two of our races will have new Naming Sponsors. Along with the Spicy Green Bean Run Diva Run, we will now be hosting the InterCommunity Firecracker 5k and the Freed McKeen Race to Fill the Pantry.
InterCommunity, Inc of East Hartford provides comprehensive mental health and addiction services to adults, children, and families. Started 35 years ago in the basement of the South Glastonbury Congregational Church, they have grown to become a respected and vital organization that offers behavioral health services to over 2,400 people annually.
The law firm of Freed McKeen opened their doors last Fall in the historic Linden Building in downtown Hartford. Ryan McKeen is well known to members of the Glastonbury River Runners, having joined our club a couple of years ago. He logged a 3:52 in last year’s Hartford Marathon. He and his partner, Meghan Freed, went to law school together and practiced law for several Hartford area firms before striking out on their own. They are fierce advocates for the rights of runners, cyclists, and pedestrians.
And, for the third year in a row, our friends at Spicy Green Bean will be supporting the Run Diva Run. Their creative and healthy menu, casual, tasteful décor and always friendly service make them one of the area’s most visited destination restaurants. We all remember the great food they provided as caterers of this year’s annual meeting.
The support of these three area businesses will help ensure the success of our 2013 events, just as the support of previous naming sponsor NRG Energy helped make our 2012 races the best yet.
